본 연구는 유치원의 자유선택활동 중에서 유아들이 쌓기놀이를 하는 과정에서 놀이의 구성물을 통하여 또래와의 상호작용을 하면서 나타나는 내러티브 내용 특징을 알아보는데 있다. 참여유아는 만 5세반 유아 7명이며 유아의 내러티브 내용과 조직을 심층적으로 이해하기 위해 참여관찰을 통해 쌓기놀이에 관련된 내러티브와 관련된 자료들을 수집하였다. 수집된 자료들을 통해 유아들이 어떠한 내러티브를 만들어 가는지 질적연구 방법을 통하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 유아들은 쌓기놀이의 과정에서 그들의 삶과 관련이 있는 구조물을 만들고 놀이의 배경으로 이용하여 경험을 재현하고 다양한 내러티브를 만들었다. 유아들이 만든 내러티브는 유아들의 생활이야기, 상상이야기, 현실과 상상이 혼합된 이야기로 구분되어 졌다. 유아들은 쌓기놀이를 하면서 서로의 이야기를 나누는 과정을 통해 만들어진 구조물에 의미를 부여하고 생활세계의 경험과 지식, 상상력을 기초로 이야기를 만든다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of young children’s narratives appearing by interacting with their peers while playing with blocks. The subjects include 7 five-year-olds of the Class attending the kindergarten. I collected a variety of data relating a play with blocks through observation in order to understand the content and structure of narratives. Gathered information was closely examined through a qualitative study to find out how children build narratives. The major research found that during block play, the children made a structure related to their life and recreated their experience using it as a background. The characteristics of young children’s narratives are categorized into the following three types: a children’s life story; imaginary story; and mixed story of both the real world and the imaginary world. Young children gave meanings to what they have built with the blocks through sharing their stories and came up with stories that are based on their life experience, knowledge, and imagination.
