This study was conducted to analyze the effects of career group-counseling programs on the career adaptability of middle-aged female adult learners. To that end, 30 middle-aged female adult learners attending D College located in Daegu Metropolitan City were selected as study subjects. Among them, 15 subjects were selected as an experiment group and 10 sessions of a group career counseling program based on the social cognitive career theory were implemented and 15 subjects in the control group did not participate in career counseling program. Both groups underwent career adaptability tests before and after implementing the program and the differences in scores between before and after the program were analyzed using covariance analyses (ANOVAs). SPSS 18.0 was utilized in statistical analyses. Based on the results, the career adaptability of those female adult learners who participated in the career counseling program was significantly improved compared to the those who did not participate in the program. In addition, the experimental group showed significant improvement in all eight sub-factors of career adaptability (sense of responsibility, goal consciousness, creativity, interpersonal relations, openness, initiative, job ability, and positive attitude) compared to the control group. Based on the results as such, this researcher suggested that research and development of career counseling program for middle-aged female adult learners should be more actively conducted and counseling fields and lifelong educational institutions should implement more career counseling programs for middle-aged women.
