성조숙증 아동의 최종 키를 늘이고 초경을 지연시키는 목적으로 사용되고 있는 호르몬 치료제는 여러 가지 밝혀진 부작용이 많아 치료여부에 대해 끊임없이 논란이 되고 있으며, 치료가 아닌 자연성장을 선택하는 부모들이 늘고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 성조숙증 자녀를 둔 어머니가 겪는 경험의 세계를 이해하기 위해서 시도되었다. 연구문제는 “자연성장을 선택하는 성조숙증 아동 어머니의 경험은 어떠한가?”이다. 연구대상자는 성조숙증을 진단받았으나 자연성장을 선택한 아동의 어머니 8명을 편의표집 하였으며, 자료분석방법은 근거이론방법을 적용하였다. 연구결과 중심현상은 ‘수많은 갈등 속에 자연성장을 선택함’이었고, 이를 조율해 나가는 중재조건은 ‘배우자의 지지’였으며, 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘성조숙증 정보 알아보기’와 ‘성조숙증 개선을 위한 노력’으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과는 성조숙증 자녀를 둔 어머니의 경험에 대한 본질을 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이며, 이를 통해 성조숙증 자녀를 둔 어머니들이 직면해 있는 현실적인 문제를 사회․문화적으로 접근할 수 있는 근거를 마련하는 계기가 되기를 기대한다.
Hormone therapy, which has been used for the purpose of increasing the final height and delaying the menstrual cycle of children, has been constantly controversial about the treatment of many side effects, and parents are choosing natural growth rather than treatment. This study aims to understand the mother s experiences in natural growth of children with Precocious puberty. The research question was What are the mothers experiences of choosing for natural growth? . The subjects were 8 mothers of children who were diagnosed with Precocious Puberty but were not treated. The data analysis method was applied the ground theory method. As for the study result, the main phenomenon was the Choosing natural growth in a lot of conflict and the mediation conditions for controlling were Spouse s support , and the reaction/mutual reaction strategy to correspond to this situation was Learn about disease , Efforts for improvement disease . Such results will contribute to be the grounds for social and cultural approaches to the real problems faced by mothers of children with Precocious Puberty.
