The purpose of this study was to evaluate accuracy and anthropometric reliability of the three-dimensional stereophotogrammetry imaging system. Ten mannequins which were similar to human face with 16 landmarks marked on faces were used, and three-dimensional facial images were obtained by Di3D system. Thirteen linear distances between landmarks which represent width, height, and depth of mennequin face were measured with RapidFormTM2006 and compared with manual measurements. Linear distances were measured twice by each method, then through the statistical analysis, the following results were obtained. 1. The difference between linear measurements of three-dimensional facial images and manual measurements was in the range of 0.02~0.47 mm. 2. When the reliability of the measurements was examined by the intraclass correlation coefficient, values were higher than 0.992 regardless of methods. 3. The mean measurement error of three-dimensional facial images was 0.07 mm, which was lower than 0.17 mm of manual measurements. The results of the present study show that the facial image obtained by Di3D system is accurate and reliable for anthropometry.
