In this paper I will survey some executive motivational areas: making learning stimulating and enjoyable, presenting tasks in a motivating way, protecting the learners self-esteem and increasing their self-confidence, creating learner autonomy, promoting self-motivating learner strategies. The spectrum of motivation maintenance strategies is particularly rich, since ongoing human behaviour can be modified in so many different ways, ranging from the manner we present and administer tasks to teaching the learners how to motivate themselves. I will show you some strategies for promoting self-motivating learner strategies in English classroom: teaching learner strategies, commitment control strategies, metacognitive control strategies, satiation control strategies, emotion control strategies, environmental control strategies.
