For the vision impaired and the hearing impaired, this study conducted a comparative analysis of main social welfare indicators to 120 people with impaired vision and 90 people with impaired hearing, also with the use of「2007 Korea Welfare Panel」data. The category of indicators restructured on the basis of previous research, by the researcher, was composed of 7 indicators including a demographic indicator, a labor and economic activity indicator, a social insurance indicator, a medical welfare indicator, a residential and housing welfare indicator, a basic aid welfare indicator, and a welfare service indicator, and 62 variables.
As a result of the study, the greatest reason why most of the indicators were low was because an income had not been properly secured. Accordingly, it is imperative to introduce the 'basic pension system for the disabled' as early as possible. Also, as for the finding of a higher household ratio for the low income class than the average of the total group of the disabled, it is necessary to separately designate a reserved occupation or to explore other occupations through follow-up research instead of merely being satisfied with the existence of a relatively consistent guaranteed income system such as reserved occupations.
Key words : welfare indicator for the vision impaired, basic pension system for the disabled, separate designation of a reserved occupation
