The objective of this study is to classify the types of personality traits of university students by using the five personality traits, and also to reveal the factors that make it possible to predict the differences in the types. Data was collected from the four-year-course university students in Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, Busan, and Gyeongnam. Applying the latent profile analysis, the types of personality traits were classified, and the and ANOVA were conducted for comparing the differences in each type. In order to verify the predicting factors(sociodemographic, resilience, self-encouragement variables) of the types of personality traits, the multinominal logistic regression analysis was conducted. In the results of this study, first, the personality traits of university students were divided into three types(introvert closed-type, optimistic adaptive-type, extrovert sensitive-type). Second, in the results of examining the differences between those three types and variables, there were significant differences in diverse variables. And the multinominal logistic regression analysis verified the significant variables in each type. Based on such results, this study suggested the practical implications of personality traits of university students, and also suggested the limitations and the direction of follow-up researches.
