본 연구에서는 한국교육종단연구2005 코호트의 6차년도(2010년), 7차년도(2011년), 9차년도(2014년) 데이터를 활용하여 대입 재수경험이 대학에서의 학습성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 기초분석 결과, 대입에서 재수경험이 있는 대학생은 비경험 대학생에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 학습성과를 보였으며, 일부 대학생활 경험(대학생활 적응, 수업태도) 및 수업 외 활동 경험(취업준비활동) 측면에서도 미흡한 경향을 보였다. 그러나 개인 및 대학배경, 대학생활 경험, 대학수업 및 수업 외 활동 경험이 동일한 조건에서는 재수 경험 여부에 따른 학습성과의 유의미한 차이가 발견되지 않았다. 재수 경험 여부에 따른 학습성과의 차이가 대부분 개인 및 대학배경 요인과 대학생활, 대학수업 및 수업 외 활동 경험으로 설명된다고 볼 수 있다. 즉, 대입에서 재수경험을 한 학생의 경우, 재수경험이 없는 학생들보다 상대적으로 낮은 수준의 학업성취를 보이는데, 이는 일정부분 재수경험이 있는 학생들의 대학생활, 수업, 수업 외 활동 경험의 질과 관련이 있다는 것이다. 재수경험이 있는 학생들이 양질의 대학생활을 경험하고 이를 학습성과로 이어갈 수 있도록 대학생활 적응 및 수업태도 개선 지원, 취업준비 활동 장려 등을 고려할 필요가 있다.
This study analyzes academic achievements of repeaters of college entrance examination in comparison with students without that experiences adopting the 6th survey data(2010), 7th survey data(2011), and 9th survey data(2014) of Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2005(KELS2005). The results show that repeaters of college entrance examination tended to show lower levels of adjustment to university life and academic achievement and higher frequency of misbehaviors. However, when factors related to individual and family backgrounds and experiences on campus are controlled, the academic achievement of repeaters did not show differences from those did not repeat the college entrance examination. Some policy implications ware drawn based on the findings such as to raise the quality of repeaters’ college experiences, academic behavior, and ultimately their academic achievement.
