The purpose of this study is to examine the current research trend of Korean Drama therapy. The 40 published theses were chosen in the RISS4U and National Assembly Library typed by “연극치료” and “드라마치료(Drama therapy)” in Korean in May, 2009. Using the analysis frame adopted by Soo bin Kim, Eun Joo Hong (2008) the research trends of Korean arts therapy, there have been publications of Drama therapy theses since 1994. The 65% of Drama therapy theses is examined the effects of Drama therapy and the research methods were quantitative research (37%), qualitative research (11.1%) and the integrated research (51.9%), combining quantitative with qualitative research. In general, 10 sessions are chosen and the types of clients are children (29.6%), adolescents (33.3%) and adults (37%). The clients with special needs and ordinary people who are having difficulties with their psychological problems mainly participated in the Drama therapy session. The result of Drama therapy effects is having hope, decreasing aggression, improving self-esteem, self-concept, social skills, stress, and coping strategies to achieve the therapeutic goals of symptom relief, physical and emotional integration and personal growth.
