We need look out on the elderly\'s alcohol use dproblem in a general point of the elderly\'s culture in the community. This study examine the relevance between the elderly\'s participation activity in the community and alcohol use.
The elderly\'s participation activity in the community includes social fellowship, religion, interest, leisure, volunteer work, schooling, political activity and others, of which social fellowship activity is forming the greatest part nevertheless. The representative fellowship activity is activity in the hall for the aged, which the advanced aged taking lower level education or culture use more than ever. The simple game and drinking are main activity in the hall for the aged, which may not bring about motive that the elderly would participate the community activity positively. Particularly, many studies that drinking does more fatal harm to the elderly\'s health than the younger are reported.
Social work intervention reflecting demographic character and the elderly- dominated plan and practice should be needed to reduce the elderly\'s drinking and encourage their positive community participation
