This study explored two research issues through literature review. The first issue was about variables that affect on suicide, and the relationship between the variables. The second issue was to identify variables that affected on negative stress and depression, and to explore the relationship between them. It was found that suicide would be directly affected by negative stress and depression through previous studies. It was argued that negative stress and depression were intervened by several variables such as self-esteem, hopelessness and social problem solving by previous studies. The detailed roles of these variables were discussed. In the next, some variables such as problem solving and perfectionism that intermediate stress and depression were reviewed on previous studies. Based on these reviews, preventive and intervention on suicide and depression was discussed. Keywords：suicide ideation, depression, negative stress.
