본 글에서는 최근 놀라운 발전을 거듭하고 있는 미래 학문인 신경과학을 심리치료 분야에서 어떻게 받아들여 통합해야 하는지에 대한 견해를 밝히고자 하였다. 전통적인 심리치료 분야에서는 인간의 마음을 객관적으로 규명하는 것은 불가능한 일이고 꿈이나 자유연상을 통해 일부에 접근할 수 있을 뿐이라는 입장을 견지하였다. 보다 현대적인 심리치료적 개입으로 인지행동치료적 입장에서는 표면적으로 관찰되는 사고나 행동상 문제에 구체적으로 접근하는 방식을 취함으로써 이전에 비해 과학적이고 객관적인 태도를 취하였다. 그러나 최근 신경과학의 발전으로 인간의 마음에 대한 과학적 탐구와 증명이 가능해졌고 이러한 연구 결과들은 심리치료 분야에도 파급되고 있다. 본문에서 태생기에 있는 심리치료와 신경과학의 학문적 접목과 관련된 과학적 연구 결과들을 살펴보고 신경과학적 지식을 임상 치료 장면에 활용한 몇 가지 접근들 중 정신분열병을 중심으로 한 인지재활과 학습 장애와 주의문제에 대한 인지교정치료를 소개하고자 한다. 2000년대 이후 언급되고 있는 전통 심리치료와 신경과학의 통합 혹은 신경 심리치료(Neurotherapy)에 대해 기술하였다. 결론에서는 신경과학적 입장을 수용해야 하는 것이 현대 심리치료 분야에서는 피할 수 없는 부분이며 동시에 전통적인 심리치료의 고유한 긍정적 특성을 유지하면서 균형잡힌 통합을 이루어야 함을 강조하였다.
This paper aimed to express my opinion about how to accept and integrate the neurosciences which is the future study extraordinarily developed recently in the field of psychotherapy. The traditional psychotherapy field maintained it would be impossible to define human mind objectively except partial approach through the dream and the free association. The cognitive and behavioral therapy which is more modern psychological intervention took the more scientific and objective attitude than the traditional approach through the concrete approach to the thought and behavior problem. However recent developments of the neurosciences made the human mind be investigated and proved scientifically, these studies results were being carried into the psychotherapy. The text tried to explore several scientific findings related the integration between neurosciences and psychotherapy and introduce the cognitive rehabilitation for the schizophrenic patients and cognitive remediation therapy for the learning disorder, attention problem among which applied the neuroscientific findings on the clinical therapeutic fields. Also this paper described about the integration between traditional psychotherapy and neurosciences and the Neurotherapy mentioned since 2000s. In the conclusion, it was stressed that it would be necessary to accept the neuroscientific approach and to make the balanced integration maintaining the unique positive characteristics of traditional psychotherapy at the same time.
