The purpose of this study was to investigate how puppet drama activities affect young children's
language expression and creativity abilities. The research questions were addressed as follows. First,
what effects do puppet drama activities have on young children's language expression?. Second, what
effects do puppet drama activities have on young children's creativity?
The subjects of the study were consisted of 40 young children aged five who attended I kindergarten
in G metropolitan city. The selected two classes were respectively distributed to an experimental group
and comparative group. To verify the effects of the puppet drama activities, language expression ability
and creativity measure were administered in the same situation before and after the experiment. The collected
data were analyzed by t-verification with SPSS program. The findings of this study were as follows.
First, puppet drama activities evaluated young children's ability of language expression ability and
developed significantly sub-categorized items like the number of a simple sentence, number of a
compound sentence, number of modifier except number of a compound sentence.
Second, puppet drama activities meaningly evaluated young children's creativity. It also made an
progress in sub-categorized items such as fluency, originality, abstractness, elaborateness, closure, etc.
As a conclusion, this study shows that puppet drama activities have an effect on young children's
development of language expression ability and creativity.
