This study was performed to search the effect of art therapy using Aesop's Fables on the
language development of a child with cerebral palsy. The concrete theme to achieve the object
of the study are as follows.
First, does the art therapy using Aesop's Fables has an effect on vocabulary ability of a
child with cerebral palsy?
Second, does the art therapy using Aesop's Fables has an effect on sentences understanding
ability of a child with cerebral palsy?
Third, does the art therapy using Aesop's Fables has an effect on the expressive language of
a child with cerebral palsy?
To verify these study subjects, Art therapy program with Aesop's Fables, which was
24 times during 12 weeks from March 13, 2006 to June 2, 2006 was conducted survey one a year and seven years old a child with cerebral palsy. The result of the picture vocabulary ability
assessment, the sentence meaning comprehensive faculty assessment and PRES assessment
which was conducted preliminary and after the fact of applying program made a comparative
study quantitatively as well as qualitatively. Studies show that Art therapy program with
Aesop's Fables improved that cerebral palsy child's the PPVT was up 6%, the sentence
comprehensive faculty was up 19% and the PRES was up 13%. As art activity went by, The
subject child of study who showed self-confidence and constructed completion of work by
vocabulary in story books. Program of material by art add to story books became approach for
overcoming of a child with cerebral palsy unsteady vocabulary ability development with
familiarity and interest. However, this program is limited to the result as personality of each
child for a short time. Therefore, in further future, more long time and continous investments
will be required to develop various program for cerebral palsy children and then make
generalization.
