It turns out that the art therapy has an effect on the improvement of the sociality of a young
child with developmental delay in earlier study. Because, to develop the sociality of the young
child with developmental delay has a positive effect on the change in the problem behavior and
learning disorder of him. The purpose of this study is to find what changes are in the sociality
of him by art therapy in his school and home. The subject of this study is one young child
with developmental delay at special disabled children school in A city. I applied art therapy two
times a week, twenty six times totally, to him and used a social maturity scale for test. And
the results of the study are as follows. First, as I compared the results of before with after
social maturity scale, I found the improvement in a social age and social index, and in the
sociality of the young child with developmental delay by art therapy in seven sub-categories.
Second, the results of the comparison between pre and post records of a class teacher
interview, mother interview and researcher’s observation showed positive changes in the
sociality of him by art therapy in his school and home. As of the results, I found that the
sociality of the child with developmental disability could be improved by the art therapy.
