This study is to provide a basic material to identify that the FKD(Favorite Kind of Day) test has validity as a diagnosing tool for the depression level of university students, by analyzing comparatively and specifically the depression level and FKD responsive characteristics of university students. The study subject is 46 male university students and 107 female university students in D city. The research tool is BDI(Beck Depression Inventory) and the favorite weather drawing test. The collected data materials are analyzed by SPSS(ver.17.0 for Windows). The cross tabulation analysis is carried out to find out the difference in FKD responsive characteristics by depression level, and the discriminant analysis ,nits validity. The results are as follows. In case in FKD responsive characteristic by depression level of university students, there was a significant difference in space utilization, consistency of expression, quality of line in the whole element, and in the sun, rain in the weather element, and in pink, grey, black in the color element. It means that the depression group uses the space much as a whole, has a so, consistency in expression of weather and background, and uses a breaking and loose line a lot. The group do not express the sun a lot, but express rain a lot, and uses pink, grey, black color. Therefore, it can be possible to say that the FKD test has a reliable validity as a drawing projection tool to diagnose the depression level of university students.
