This study is referred to how different the parent-adolescent communication scale it is according to the sex of the adolescent and their mother and father. And also it includes what relevance there is between the parent-adolescent communication scale and the interpersonal orientation of the adolescent. The target audiences are total 363 highschool students-161 boys and 202 girs-in Chuncheon city of Gangwon province. It is used a questionnaire for the adolescent of the parent-adolescent communication scale questionnaire by Barnes & Olson(1982) which has been adapted to Korean society by Kil, Ae-jin(1999).
And for the measurement of interpersonal orientation, it is applied a questionnaire of Ahn, Bum-hee(1984).
The results are as follows, s a result of verifying the difference by the adolescent's sex, in a wholistic view, it shows the most meaningful negative relevance with a mother in the problem family communication scale, and then a positive relevance with a mother in the open family communication scale. But with a father, there is no meaningful relevance in any communication scale.
Consequently, it is necessary to develop and promote a program for fathers and for the open
communication.
