The purpose of this study was to alter expressive activity and to decrease maladaptive behavior and then to improve interpersonal relationship by administering the art therapy program to Down’s Syndrome child.
The subject selected was one Down’s Syndrome child with emotional and social problems such as withdrawal, anxiety, maldaptive, behavior and avoidant interpersonal relationship.
The art therapy program which was consisted of total seven phases with individual or group art therapy was administered to the Down\'s syndrome child for one year.
The results of various observations and evaluations showed significant changes especially in the maladaptive behavior and interpersonal relationship play areas.
The conclusions of the study therefore, was that the art therapy program was quite effective in altering his expressive activity decreasing his maladaptive behavior and improving his interpersonal relationship.
In addition further systematic therapeutic program should be suggested since the art is considered to be useful means for motivation emotional stabilization. and the improvement of social skils.
