This research explores the effect of art therapy, accompanied with language therapy, on
the improvement in language ability of young child showing language delay. this research
has focused on a kindergarten pupil who demonstrates communication difficulties, caused by
his difficulties in language understanding and articulation. the young child was provided
with 60minutes of both speech and art therapy, twice a week for 3months, or a total of
24hours. In order to analyse the effect of the therapy, the researcher and the assistant
observed and recorded the young child's improvement in speech and behaviour. Evaluations
using appropriate method, were made both before and after each session. The conclusion
drawn from this research is as mentioned below. First, art therapy, accompanied with
language therapy gives influence to the young child's reaction and changed in speech
activity. Second, art therapy, accompanied with language therapy improves the language
ability of the young child with language delay.
Third, art therapy, accompanied with language therapy reduces problems shown in the
young child I s behaviour.
