This study was to develop a proper group art therapy for the children with cerebral palsy through analyzing the effects of group art treatments on learning readiness such as fine motor development, social skill, problem behavior, and academic competence. Total of 13 children with CP were selected based on predetermined selection criteria among the CP children from two rehabilitation schools located in Seoul(control group) and Kyunggi-do(experimental group). The group art therapy were given 80 minutes, one time a week for fourteen-week period. Measurements of fine motor development, social skill, problem behavior, and academic competence were evaluated at initial presentation(pretest) and after completion of the program(posttest). The program were consisted of accessible themes so that they can improve their learning readiness. Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks test was utilized to detect the mean difference between the groups. The results of this study were presented as follows: Firstly, group art therapy were significantly increased in fine motor development after the completion of the programs. Secondly, group art therapy were significantly increased in social skill after the completion of the programs. especially improvement in sub items as cooperation, assertion, self-control was significantly increased after intervention. Thirdly, group art therapy were significantly increased in problem behavior after the completion of the programs. fourthly, group art therapy were significantly increased in academic competence after the completion of the programs. Lastly, learning readiness were improved after the completion of intervention by sessional plans. Therefore, the effective training program for fine motor development, social skill(sub-items, cooperation, assertion, self-control), problem behavior(sub-items, externalizing problem, internalizing problem, hyperactivity), and academic competence can be developed using the group art therapy for the children with cerebral palsy.
