\"The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of art group therapy on self-esteem and aggression of the children abused by their parents. The subject of this study is 5 children in the Child Welfare Institution in S city. The group art therapy was performed 12 sessions 2 times in a week. 1 session is 2 hours. The instruments used for this study by auxiliary datum are HTP test and the Self-Esteem Scale developed by Coopersmith(1967) and translated by Kim Kung Yeon(1987), the Aggression Scale developed by Buss & Perry(1992) and translated by Jung dong Wha(1995). The children\'s behaviors were observed by a therapist and their guardians. The major finds of this study were as follows: First, according to the Dependent t-test, the art group therapy increased the degree of the children\'s self-esteem and decreased the degree of their aggression. Second, the children\'s drawings of trees and persons were changed affirmatively. Third, as the sessions progressed, the children opened up their minds and became to have more confidence in themselves. The supportive behaviors for the other people increased while the behaviors of acting-out decreased. Fourth, the guardians of children reported that the children\'s behaviors positively changed after all sessions of the art group therapy. After putting all the results of this study together, it shows that the art group therapy positively affected the improvement of self-esteem and the decrease of aggression of abused children. In this regard, this study has taken a appropriate method to help abused children.
