"This study is intended to offer Mandala art-therapy to a housewife, who had been diagnosed with depression by the hospital and had been taking medicine, and to examine the effects of the therapy on the alleviation of depression of the housewife. The research subject, a housewife living in 'Y' city, was taking medicine after being diagnosed with depression in the hospital, however she stopped taking medicine arbitrarily with no discussion with the doctor due to side effect. This program was conducted from April 2007 to December that year. Due to the situation of the subject, the therapy program was set to be conducted once each week or once every two to three weeks for 60 to 80 minutes, totally 16 sessions. After completion of the program, follow-up instructions were given on the phone, and in 4 months, follow-up test was performed. For effective analysis of Mandala art-therapy, MMPI test were performed before and after the program and depression points were compared. The results are shown as follows: post-test showed 30 points less than pre-test in 'T' score of depression measured with MMPI. In addition, the follow-up test executed in 4 months also showed 2 less points of depression in 'T' score compared to post inspection. Therefore, Mandala art- therapy is shown to have positive effect on alleviation of depression of the housewife.
