Young children's emotional development is based on the emotional experience which has been affected by circumstances. So, the circumstances in young childhood are very important and it is said that one of circumstances, music, can make human's spirits stable and plant the emotion in them. Therefore in this study it is confirmed that the experiential music appreciation program is effective in improving the emotional intelligence that the young children can feel for beauty, and in expressing their proper feelings and managing their emotion. 57 young children at Y and K kindergartens located in Woosan Dong, Wonju were sampled for this study. Through the experimental group and the control group were verified to be the same and the experiential music appreciation activity was given to an experimental group. The experiment was conducted during an 8 week period, twice a week, 16th terms.
After the experiment ex post facto examination was made by using emotional intelligence checklist for young children. The difference between two groups was examined by using T-test. The findings of this study demonstrated as follows: frist, The experiential music appreciation activity showed the difference statistically between the experimental group and the control group in recognizing emotions in others(P<.001) and handling relationships(P<.01) which are both low elements of emotional intelligence.
But the difference was not founded statistically in knowing one's own emotion and managing one's emotion, which are low elements of emotional intelligence(P>.05). second, While progressing the experiential music appreciation activity, young children's emotional expression ability begin to become concrete and various and they begin to have an abundant imagination and attitudes that allow them to joyfully participate in the music appreciation activity.
