급변하는 현대 사회 속에서 가정환경이 변화하고 부모의 성취 압력과 경쟁 구도가 심화되는 등 외부적인 스트레스 요인이 증가함에 따라, 유아의 적응과 정서행동문제에 관한 관심이 고조되고 있다(고인숙, 이정숙, 2008; 이경숙, 신의진, 전연진, 박진아, 2004). 유아기의 정서행동문제는 아동기 이후의 심리적 장애와 밀접한 관련이 있으며 예후가 좋지 않고 만성화되는 것으로 나타나고 있기 때문에 초기 접근의 중요성이 강조되고 있다(Mathiesen & Sanson, 2000; Shaw, Winslow, & Flanagan, 1999).
This study aimed to identify and understand natural groupings of preschoolers in terms of their temperamental factors. We also investigated the effects of preschoolers' temperament, mothers' parenting stress and emotion regulation strategies on behavior problems in preschoolers. The participants included 238 preschoolers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. We measured the preschoolers' temperament using JTCI 3~6 and behavior problems using K-CBCL. And we measured mothers' parenting stress using K-PSI-SF and emotion regulation strategies using ERSQ. The results suggested the presence of three clusters and the three groups significantly differed on their various scores. Particularly, the results showed that mothers' parenting stress was the significant predictor of internal and external behavior problems in preschoolers. And it appeared that the development of behavior problems was affected by the preschoolers' temperament and mothers' emotion regulation strategies. Therapeutic implications and limitations of this study were also discussed.
