The veterans assistance for their successful return to society can be described at four views - the responsibility of nation, nation security, the cycle of lifetime and national human resources practice. The most important assistance program is vocational assistance. It is very difficult to support them for job, however, because of poor employment circumstance, the lack of social adaptation, the shortage of professional technique and knowledge. It is necessary of them to prepare the comprehensive policies for effective transition from military to society. There have been enforced a variety of vocational assistance programs for veterans by Ministry of Patriots and Veterans, in cooperation with Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Labor. The assistance programs can be divided three categories; the construction of pan governmental support system such as The Veterans Assistance Committee, Veterans Vocational Information System, Vocational training like social adaptation training. on-line study, training for certification, Consulting for job through veteran assistance center at five major cities - Seoul. Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju. It is necessary, for more effective veterans vocational assistance, affirmative operation of a task force with consist of government, military and private, improvement of vocational training through clear role division among Ministries - especially between Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and Ministry of National Defense, construction of comprehensive transition supporting system from establishment of transition course to follow-up after transition, creation group job for veterans with connection to expanding outsourcing of non-combat field through military reform. It aslo should be set up long-term policy for the paid-volunteers, besides mid-term servicemen and long-term servicemen.
