본 연구는 청소년들의 생활 스트레스와 자살사고의 관계에서 시간조망이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 매개효과 검증을 통해 알아보고자 하였으며, 시간조망의 하위변인을 단일 요인으로 보고, 각각의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 연구 대상자는 서울 소재고등학교의 학생 537명이며, 연구 도구는 자살사고 척도, 스트레스척도, 시간조망 척도 등이다. 매개효과 검증을 하기에 앞서 이들 변인간의 상관분석을 실시한 결과, 1) 스트레스와 자살사고간의 유의미한 상관이 있었고, 2) 스트레스와 시간조망의 하위 유형 중, 과거부정, 과거긍정, 현재숙명, 미래지향 시간조망간의 유의미한 상관, 3) 시간조망의 하위 유형 중, 과거부정, 과거긍정, 현재숙명 시간조망이 자살사고와 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 상관분석 결과를 바탕으로 매개효과 검증을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 과거부정 시간조망은 스트레스와 자살사고의 관계를 부분매개 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉, 과거부정시간조망을 주로 사용하는 청소년들은 스트레스가 증가하였을 때, 과거를 부정적으로 조망하는 경향이 더 높아지고, 이는 자살사고를 증가시킨다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 스트레스와 자살사고와의 관계에서 현재숙명 시간조망의 완전매개 효과가 입증되었다. 이는, 현재숙명 시간조망을 주로 사용하는 청소년들은 스트레스가 증가하였을 때, 현실의 상황을 스스로 조절할 수 없는 것으로 인식하는 경향이 높아져, 자살사고를 증가시키도록 만든다는 것을 나타낸다. 한편, 과거긍정시간조망은 스트레스와 자살사고의 관계에서 매개효과를 나타내지 않는 것으로 확인되었다.
This study argued that suicidal ideation was related to stress of adolescents and that mediating effects of time perspective was testified for the relationship between suicidal ideation and stress. The group of 214 male and 232 female high school students were surveyed. The instruments for measuring the factor were scale for suicide ideation, stress scale, Zimbardo time perspective inventory. Correlation analysis was implemented to test relationship among stress, time perspective and suicidal ideation. Then, structural equation modeling analysis was applied to testify mediating effects of time perspective on the relationship between stress and suicidal ideation. As the result, 1) stress and suicidal ideation had positive relation. 2) there was a significant relationship between stress and subscales of time perspective such as the past negative, the past positive, the Present-Fatalistic, and the future oriented. 3) there was a significant relationship between suicidal ideation and subscales of time perspective such as the past negative, the past positive, the present-fatalistic time perspective. For the mediating effect, the result showed that past negative time perspective did not mediated the relationship between stress and suicidal ideation strongly, but mediated the relationship partially. In addition, present-fatalistic time perspective mediated the relationship between stress and suicidal ideation strongly.
