The aim of this study was to find out phenomenological meanings and essential themes qualitative research on the experiences of the deaf in university. To accomplish it, this research implemented 12 focused group sessions with 7 undergraduates who were deaf, and then identified 17 themes and 7 essential themes. This study showed that essential themes of these subjects' lives included the lack and the limit of communication, the denial of their existence, exclusion from people without hearing impairment, deep sorrow from false charge and abuse, sense of kinship on association with students in special schools but difference with ones in general schools, the challenge and growth, the support and the intimacy of the participants' family or friends with the same handicap, and the change and aspiration to better lives. Through the sessions, this, found unified statements on the experiences of the subjects' lives: self-denial and distortion on relationships from the limit of communication, and isolation and wandering because of things that resulted in frustration and anger. This study found out that emotional and social support of the participants' family or significant persons affected positively their growth and development.
