본 연구는 반려동물을 키운 경험 유무와 반려동물에 대한 애호도가 대학생의 사회성 및 정서지능과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 대구광역시에 소재한 3개 대학에 재학 중인 대학생 325명을 대상으로 반려동물 경험에 관한 자료, 그리고 사회성과 정서지능에 관한 자료를 설문을 통해 수집하였다. SPSS 19 프로그램을 사용하여 t-test와 상관분석을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 반려동물을 키운 경험 유무에 따라 대학생의 사회성과 정서지능의 하위 영역 및 전체 점수에서 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 반려동물을 키운 기간은 사회성의 책임성과 정적 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 대학생의 반려동물에 대한 애호도는 사회성 전체 점수와 사회성 하위 요인 중 책임성, 협동성, 그리고 정서지능 전체 점수와 정서지능 하위 요인 중 감정이입과 유의미한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 단순히 반려동물을 키운 경험이나 기간이 아니라, 반려동물에 대한 애호도가 대학생의 사회성 및 정서지능과 관계가 있음을 나타낸다. 이는 반려동물을 활용한 대학생의 사회성 및 정서지능 함양에 대한 시사점을 지닌다.
The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between the experience of raising and fondness for companion animal, college student\'s sociality and emotional intelligence. The subjects of this study were 325 students who attend colleges in Daegu. The measurements of this study were Sociality Scale and The Adult Emotional Quotient Test. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test and correlation analysis using SPSS 19 program. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the levels of sociality and emotional intelligence were no significant differences between students who experienced raising companion animals and students who didn\'t. Second, the period of raising animals was positively related to student\'s sense of responsibility. Third, the fondness for animals was positively related to student\'s sense of responsibility, cooperation, and empathy. The results of this study will contribute to help enhance sociality and emotional intelligence of college students.
