이 연구는 지체장애인 생활시설 이용자의 자립생활의지에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하여 시설 장 애인의 자립생활를 촉진시키는데 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해 지체장애인 생활시설의 지체․뇌병변장 애인 중 149명의 표본을 대상을 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 시설 장애인의 수단적 일상생활 수준이 높을수록 자립생활의지가 높아지는 것으로 나타났는데, 자립생활 패러다임이 중증장애인의 자 립을 추구한다는 점에서 시설 장애인의 ‘지원에 의한 자립’이 가능하도록 하는 지원이 필요하다. 다음 으로 시설 장애인의 지역사회시설 이용도가 높을수록 자립생활의지가 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 마 지막으로 시설 장애인에 대한 사회적 지지가 많을수록 자립생활의지가 커지는 것으로 나타났다.
This study intended to find out factors on the residents' will levels toward independent living at the residential facilities for the physically disabled, and to suggest plans to raise their will levels. The study results show that the higher their IADL are, the higher their will levels toward independent living are. Considering that the IL paradigm pursues independent living of people with severe disabilities, support is needed to make ‘independent living by dependence' possible. In addition, the residents show the higher will levels toward independent living when they use community facilities more often and when they have more social support.
