본 논문의 목적은 안드라고지적 관점에서 EFL 교사 교육자의 핵심역량에 대한 개념화 과정을 탐색하는 것이었다. 최근 성인교육에서 주목을 끌고 있는 EFL 교사 교육의 동향을 반영하여 본 논문은 다음 주제에 초점을 맞추었다: 영어교사의 역량, EFL 교사교육의 최근 양상, 성인학습의 원칙, 안드라고지적 관점에 기초한 성인교육자의 핵심역량. 영어 교사의 핵심역량과 안드라고지적 관점에서 본 성인교육자의 핵심역량에 대한 분석에 기초해, 본 연구에서는 EFL 교사교육자에 대한 새로운 핵 심역량이 제안되었다. EFL 교사 교육자에 대한 새로운 핵심역량은 5가지 범주로 나누어져, 총 30문항으로 구성되어졌는데, 교사의 영어에 대한 지식, 인성과 능력의 양면적 기능, 성인학습 원칙, 발달적 과정으로의 학습 상황의 측면들을 적절하게 통합시켰다. 이 연구에서 제시한 포괄적인 핵심역량은 EFL 교사교육자들이 교사로서의 자신들의 장점과 단점을 평가하는데 도움을 줄 것이며, EFL 교사교육자와 프로그램의 질과 효과성을 고양시킬 수 있는 지침서가 될 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to explore the conceptual process of EFL teacher educators\' competency based on the andragogical perspective. Reflecting the recent trend of EFL teacher training holding the spotlight in the field of adult education, this paper focused on the following: the profile of English teachers\' competency, the recent trend of EFL teacher education, the principles of adult learning, the adult educators\' competency based on andragogical principles, and some implications for EFL teacher education. Based on the analysis of English teachers\' competency and the adult educators\' competency from the andragogical perspective, the new competency for EFL teacher educators was proposed in this study. This new EFL teacher educators\' core competency profile was categorized into five areas with 30 items with orchestrating such aspects as the knowledge of English language, a function of teacher personality and abilities, adult learning principles, and the learning context in the developmental process. The comprehensive profile of core competency suggested in this study will help EFL teacher educators evaluate their own assets and drawbacks as a teacher and will give some guidelines for the quality and effectiveness of EFL teacher educators and programs.
