The purpose of this study was to identify the factors of parent s character leadership with utilizing the Delphi method. As for the procedure of this study, an open-ended questionnaire was made with character leadership s concept and 24 factors by each 4 types of leaderships through data analysis and literature research.
Then the first survey was conducted with 500 mothers and 500 fathers, and total 395 questionnaires were completed and recollected. The second survey was conducted with 15 professionals. The 15 professionals were selected as professionals of early childhood education, character, and leadership. They are university professors, heads of centers, character leadership teachers, Ph. D candidates and master s graduates as well as practitioners who have a master s degree and at least 3 years of field experience. They modified and deleted questionnaire items individually that do not fit the content to the question. The third survey was conducted with groups of professionals. The group consists of 3∼4 professionals. They modified questionnaire items by each 4 types of leaderships.
As a result, 122 items of obedient leadership, 133 items of self-leadership, 102 items of servant leadership, and 101 items of transformational leadership were selected, and with 3 items for each character factors, total 72 items were presented as a result of this study.
This study has the theoretical significance derived from the results to establish and structuralize a new concept of parents’ character leadership. In addition, the study is significant in that the study provides valuable basic research in further parents’ character leadership program development and checklist creation.
