The purpose of this study, as a study on job analysis for art therapist training, was to discover the requirements and job description of domestic art therapists. For this study, a focus group based on art therapist-related job material was constructed, and the responses were analyzed. The 11 participants for this study were selected by the society of the Art Therapist Academy, director of the art therapy center, and art therapy-major professors from college and graduate school through “theoretical sampling.” This study was followed by creating two focus groups with five or six participants in each in order to evenly organize the art therapist, director, and professor among them. The six themes obtained from the interview are as follows: (a), “Should an art therapist hold a license?” (b), “Improper compensation towards art therapist professionalism,” (c), “Requirement of specialized skills in art therapists,” (d), “Systemization of the art therapy curriculum,” (e), “Systematic training and qualification management for therapists,” and (f), “Need for ability improvement and self-awareness for growth as an art therapist.” This study is significant because, based on the job analysis; the professionalism of art therapists provides a direction toward how those in this profession should proceed in the art therapy field.
