The aim of this study was to verify the effects of collage art therapy program on the emotional expression of students with intellectual disabilities and give related fundamental data to those who work in clinic for the intellectually disabled. To achieve the goal, students with the third rate of intellectual disabilities, who are in special classes of 10 secondary schools located in city were selected if they scored more than 48 points on the Emotion Expression Scale for Children. The collage art therapy program in cludes five stages. The program was implemented in 40-minute per a session, conducted twice a week for a total of 16 times. This single subject research was designed as an A-B relation, and the maintenance was conducted two weeks after the intervention. The result of the research is summarized as follows: First, the collage art therapy program was shown to be effective for improving emotional expression of students with intellectual disabilities. Second, the collage art therapy program was shown to be effective to cope with intellectually disabled students’ changes for each type of emotional expression. As shown so far, the intellectually disabled students were able to overcome their negative emotions and newly recognize their own emotions.
