The purpose of this study was to examine the vocational education and training system of Switzerland, specially apprenticeship training and to suggest some implications. To do this, we investigated the operations and status of the vocational education and training system in Switzerland. VET(Vocational Education and Training), which is the majority in vocational education and training in Switzerland, is a systematic education in vocational schools and on the spot, as a dualization of work-based learning. The federal, state, and specialized agencies, which are the operators of the apprenticeship training, were establishing clear division of roles and cooperation system. Switzerland has conducted apprenticeship training based on the training of outstanding teachers, excellent quality, social tradition and trust. The Swiss vocational education and training system suggests some implications for the industry-academic integrated apprenticeship school in Korea. First, it is necessary to establish the cooperation system of related institutes. Second, specific and clear legal amendments are necessary for its operation. Third, it is required to expand the role of the corporation. Fourth, flexibility and agility are needed for the curriculum development and operation. Finally, recognition transition and social trust of industry-academic integrated apprenticeship school should be formed.
