Social support, which means all the positive resources available in the social network, is linked to Axel Honneth s “Anerkennungstheorie” in terms of benefiting and providing with others. Honneth argues that the way in which a person can reach full self-identity based on Hegel s theory of mutual subjectivity and Mead s social psychology and self-formation theory is that his attributes, such as his desire, reason and personality, It is possible when you feel encouraged and supported by your opponent, that is, when you are ‘acknowledged’ from others in your community. Individuals positive self-recognition depends on ‘recognition’ from others.
Therefore, in this study, we considered the concept of recognition as an exchange of social support, and theoretically explored the process by which elementary school students can recognize themselves positively through social support. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the concept of social support, the factor of constitution, the effect of benefiting and providing of social support were elucidated.
