본 연구의 목적은 고등학생이 지각한 부 양육태도와 학습된 무기력 관계에서 학업실패 내성의 매개효과를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 경상북도 안동시에 소재한 4개 인문계 고등학교 2학년 503명을 대상으로 부 양육태도, 학업실패 내성, 학습된 무기력 간의 상관계수를 산출하여 관련성을 알아보았다. 또한 부 양육태도가 학습된 무기력에 미치는 영향에 있어 학업실패 내성이 매개역할을 하는지 알아보기 위하여 경로분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 부의 애정적 양육태도는 학업실패 내성과 정적 상관을 보이고, 학습된 무기력과는 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 이와 반대로 부의 통제적 양육태도는 학업실패 내성과는 부적 상관을 보이고, 학습된 무기력과는 정적 상관을 나타냈다. 그리고 학업실패 내성은 학습된 무기력과 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 학업실패 내성은 아버지의 애정적 양육태도와 학습된 무기력 관계에서 부분 매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 아버지의 통제적 양육태도는 학습된 무기력에 정적인 영향을 미치지만, 이러한 영향에 있어서 학업실패 내성의 매개효과는 유의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 고등학생의 학습된 무기력을 개선하기 위해 아버지의 애정적 양육태도 함양과 함께, 학생들의 학업실패 내성 수준을 향상시키는 노력이 필요함을 시사한다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of academic failure tolerance on the relationship between high school student’s perceived paternal rearing attitude and learned helplessness. The subjects of this study were 503 students who were in second year in 4 academic high schools in Andong. The test tools were paternal rearing attitude, academic failure tolerance, and learned helplessness scale. The collected data were analyzed by Correlation and Path analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, father’s affectionate rearing attitude was positively related with academic failure tolerance and it negatively related with learned helplessness. But father’s disciplinary rearing attitude was negatively related with academic failure tolerance and it positively related with learned helplessness. Also there was negative relation between academic failure tolerance and learned helplessness. Second, academic failure tolerance partially mediated the relationship between father’s affectionate rearing attitude and learned helplessness. While it was found that father’s disciplinary rearing attitude had significant positive effects on learned helplessness directly, academic failure tolerance had no mediating effect on the relationship between father’s disciplinary rearing attitude and learned helplessness. Possible reasons for theses results were identified and discussed.
