The purpose of this study is to analyze the music contents of elementary literacy curriculum and textbooks and to suggest improvement directions in the importance of adult literacy education. First, literature studies on the concept of literacy education, aspects of literacy education in Korea, literacy curriculum and textbooks were conducted. Based on this, the music contents of the curriculum and textbook for literacy education were compared and analyzed, and the degree of sequential design, interest, importance, and difficulty of textbook contents was analyzed through surveys and interviews. In addition, expert councils were conducted to find ways to improve curriculum and textbooks for literacy education.
Through the above methods, the results of the analysis on the characteristics of music contents of literacy curriculum, differences from the 2015 revised curriculum, the degree of linkage between literacy curriculum and textbooks, and the characteristics of textbook music contents were presented. In addition, this study suggests various directions for improving the curriculum and textbooks for adult literacy education.
