이 연구에서는 장애학생을 위한 과학 행사에 참여한 예비교사들이 장애인에 대해 갖는 사회적 거리감을 조사하고 이를 분석함으로써 통합교육 환경에서 준비가 필요한 예비교사들의 교사교육을 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이 연구에서 사회적 거리감은 ‘어떤 대상에 대한 이해, 정서, 행동 의지를 포함하는 주관적 태도’로서, 사회적 의지, 지식, 정서, 접촉의 4가지 하위 요인을 갖는다. 이 연구에서는 장애학생을 위한 과학 행사에 참여한 예비교사 73명과 이 행사와 무관한 예비교사 185명 등 총 258명의 응답 자료로부터 사회적 거리감의 하위요인별 분포와 응답자의 배경 변인에 따른 분포의 차이를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 예비교사들의 장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감은 사회적 의지와 정서 요인이 지식이나 접촉 요인에 비해 보다 긍정적으로 나타났다. 예비교사들의 사회적 거리감은 장애학생을 위한 과학 행사 참여 경험보다는 특수교육 전공 여부와 특수교육 관련 교과목 이수 경험에 영향을 받으며, 장애학생을 위한 과학 행사 참여는 접촉 요인에서는 긍정적으로 작용할 수 있으나 지식 요인에서는 오히려 부정적으로 작용하였다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate pre-service teachers social distance toward persons with disabilities regarding to the experience of participation in science fairs for the students with disabilities. By analyzing the result we aimed to induce the implication of teacher education in preparation of inclusive education. In this study social distance is defined as subjective attitude toward a target in cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects , which consists of 4 factors like social willingness, knowledge, emotion and contact. We gathered the responses from 73 pre-service teachers who experienced a science fair for the students with disability and 185 pre-service teachers irrelevant to the fair. We analyzed the distribution of social distance by factors and compared the responses according to pre-service teachers background variables. As a result, pre-service teachers’ social distance toward persons with disabilities was more positive in social willingness and emotion comparing to knowledge or contact factors. It was affected by majoring in special education or taking courses about special education. The experience of participation in science fairs for the students with disabilities affected positively in contact factors but negatively in knowledge factor.
