This is an action research that examines the role of symbols and metaphors , a unique principle of art in the process of restoring the subjectivity of students in the practice of art education. The conclusions from this study are as follows. First, the conceptual system of symbols and metaphors of aesthetic language provides the principle to help self-awareness and to have a new subjective perspective. Second, in order to provide the process of aesthetic thinking through symbols and metaphors in the practice of education, a long-term structure and individualized approach are needed for each learner. Third, linguistic interactions among educators, students, and art works in the structure of the class should be emphasized in terms of the principle of art and education.
