The innovative school started in Kyunggi Provincial Office of Education, 2009. The number of innovative schools have increased to 1,688 schools in March, 2019. As the innovative schools have increased the researches for analyzing effects of those schools were also enriched. Even though there are many researches for innovative schools the researches on success and failure of the innovative school are very few. This study aimed at finding factors influencing successes and failures of innovative schools.
To achieve this purpose data of the comprehensive evaluation of innovative schools in Chungnam Provincial Office of Education in 2018 and 2019 were used. The ANOVA and regression analysis were adopted to find the factors influencing the successes and failures of innovative schools.
The finding results are as follows; The core factors influencing successes and failures of innovative schools are sharing vision and focus, meaningful learning, collective capacity and responsibility, and growth-oriented assessment. They are core factors influencing successes and failures of innovative schools. To succeed the innovative schools all members of school share the vision and focus, school teachers should develop their collective capacity and responsibility, let students have meaningful learning, and teachers should do growth-oriented assessment. Those 4 factors are major elements influencing successes and failures of innovative schools.
