This study set out to examine the self-advocacy experiences of adolescents with developmental disabilities and figure out their self-advocacy experiences and their related factors. For these purposes, the investigator conducted an in-depth interview with nine adolescents with developmental disabilities. As for methodology, the KJ method(affinity diagram) was used which involved collecting various data, putting together individual data, and identifying causes through their structurization into a big picture. The findings show that the participants had a variety of experiences related to self-advocacy. As for factors related to self-advocacy, having a disability itself became a factor to make them hesitate with their self-advocacy experiences at home and school, which are venues of self-advocacy. Persistence was manifested also as an important means of self-advocacy. Based on these findings, the study made a couple of proposals.
