This study was conducted by using a mixed-methods study to analyze the operation status of the Seoul lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities and to find the developmental direction of the lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities in the future. In the quantitative survey, the survey data collected by targeted (complete enumeration survey) to 181 employees of 16 Seoul lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities, were analyzed. And in the qualitative survey, the content analysis was conducted based on the recorded transcripts of the focus group interview conducted by targeted to the four chiefs of the center. In the quantitative survey, the basic operation status of the center (the facility, object, teacher, class status, etc.) and the employees perception of the center operation (the manpower ratio, status and necessity of the staff education and supervision, the object of using center in future, etc.) were presented, and in the qualitative survey, the results of the more specific status and problems of center operation, and development plans were drawn. Based on the study results like those, in this study, made suggestions for the development plan of operation of the lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities as follows. First, it is necessary to change and improve the human support system for the performance of the unique functions of the lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities. Second, the minimum standard of the physical environment should be reorganized for the effective operation of the lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities. Lastly, it is necessary to set up the function according to clear guidelines for the lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities to play a role as the center for developmental disabilities self-reliance.
