미래사회의 변화와 함께 학교에서는 단편적인 지식 습득을 위한 교육이 아니라 역량(개인적, 직업적, 사회적 맥락 등 다양한 맥락에서 맞닥뜨리는 다양한 형태의 문제와 요구에 대응할 수 있도록 관련 지식과실행능력, 그리고 태도와 가치를 운용할 수 있는 능력)을 길러줄 수 있는 교육이 이루어져야 한다는 것에는 어느 정도 사회적 공감이 이뤄지고 있다. 실제, 2015 개정 교육과정이나 자유학기제, 고교학점제 정책 등에서 역량교육이 강조되고 있다. 하지만, 역량교육의 구체적인 실행 방법, 역량교육의 실천적 모습은 명확하지 않다. 더욱이 역량교육에 대한 이론적인 논의에 비해 역량교육의 실행 모습을 체계적으로분석한 연구는 부족하다. 이러한 문제인식에서 본 연구는 역량교육을 실천하고 있는 자율형 공립학교를대상으로 한 사례 연구를 통해, 역량교육의 실행 모습과 그 특징을 보다 심층적으로 분석, 이해하고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 연구에 참여한 중학교 3개교와 고등학교 2개교의 역량교육 실행 모습의 특징을 도출하고, 역량 학습과정에서 두드러진 원리와 특징을 OECD 교육 2030 프로젝트의 교육과정 설계 원리에기초하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 국내 역량교육 실행을 위한 과제를 제시하였다.
There is an agreement that with social changes, education should put more emphasis on development of future competencies rather than mere acquisition of content knowledge and Korea has been emphasizing competency-based education with 2015 National Curriculum, Free Semester System, and High School Credit System. However, ways to develop competencies are still considered vague. Moreover, studies that explore practices of competency-based education is in short compared to theoretical studies on it. Therefore, in this study, we intend to understand and reveal the characteristics of competency-based education as it was practiced with a case study of 5 autonomous public secondary schools, which are practicing competency-based education. Specifically, the study retrieves characteristics of schools that practice competency-based education and analyzes characteristics of curriculum design and practices with OECD Education 2030 curriculum design principles as framework. Lastly, we suggested implications for the implementation of competency-based education in Korea.
