This study aimed to explore music therapists’ experience in relation to ethical issues in music therapy practice, and to provide basic information for ethics education. The participants consisted of seven professional music therapists with at least 10 year clinical experiences and longer, and they were certified by the Korean Music Therapy Association. As a result of the data analysis using the phenomenological method of Giorgi, 83 meaning units, 19 subcategories, and six categories were emerged. Six categories were ‘ethical issues related to the professional competence and responsibility’, ‘ethical issues related to the client-therapist relationship’, ‘ethical issues related to the employer-employee relationship’, ‘ cognitive-emotional consequence of ethical dilemma’, ‘dilemma coping strategies’, and ‘the necessity of ethics education the music therapists perceived.’ The implication of the findings and its limitations were provided.
