본 연구는 미국 ‘그래미 음악교육가상’이 미국 음악교육의 사회적 인식 변화와 발전에 미친 영향을 탐구 하는데 목적이 있다. 미국 교육가상의 특징을 살펴보기 위해 미국 주요 교육가상의 종류, 선발기준, 선발방법 등을 조사하고, 그래미 음악교육가상의 제정 과정, 선정 참여 주체, 선정 방법 등을 조사하였다. 연구결과 미국 그래미 음악교육가상은 미국 그래미상의 사회적, 문화적, 경제적 영향력에 힘입어 미국 사회에 음악교육의 중요성과 음악교사의 가치를 널리 알리는데 주요한 역할을 했으며, 미국 음악 교육가들과 함께 학교 음악교육의 발전을 이끌어 가는데 기여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
This study explores the impact of the Grammy Music Educator Award on the development and the change in social perception of music education in the United States. To examine the characteristics of the American educational awards, the researcher invested the types, criteria, and methods of major American educational awards and investigated the establishment, method, and processes of selecting the Grammy Music Educators Award. This study shows that the Grammy Award for Music Educators played a significant role in promoting the importance of music education and the value of music teachers to American society based on the cultural and economic influence of the Grammy Awards, and contributing to the development of music education in schools with American music educators.
