This study wanted to find out the effect of group art therapy using book art on the emotions and cognitive ability of elderly people with Mild Cognitive Impairment. A total of 16 elderly people with mild cognitive impairment who lived in S city s Senior Citizens Day Care Center were randomly assigned with eight experimental groups and eight control groups meeting the research conditions. From November 2019 to February 2020, the experimental group conducted a total of 14 sessions of group art therapy, excluding pre- and post-examination, once a week. As study tools, we used the Apparent Emotion Rating Instrument and the Korean version of the Montreal s Cognitive Assessment, and analyzed data through the Mann-Whitney U test and the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. To summarize the results of this study, First, group art therapy using book art has been effective stabilizing the sentiments and reducing the anxiety of elderly people with Mild Cognitive impairment. Second, group art therapy using book art has been effective in improving attention and slowing down cognitive function degeneration of elderly people with Mild Cognitive Impairment. Thus, This study has demonstrated that group art therapy using book art has positive effects on the emotions and cognitive abilities of elderly people with Mild Cognitive Impairment.
