The purpose of this study was to classify adult temperament clusters according to subtype of temperament and examine the differences in borderline personality traits according to adult temperament clusters. 342 college students aged 20s were conducted online survey. As a result, there was significantly negative correlation between empathy, effortful control, activity, positive affect and borderline personality traits. And there was significantly positive correlation between behavioral inhibition, negative affect and borderline personality traits. Four clusters were identified according to subtype of temperament, Cluster 1 has lowest empathy, low effortful control and low positive affect, called ‘Lack of empathy type’. Cluster 2 has high behavioral inhibition, negative affect and low activity, effortful control, positive affect, called ‘Control difficulty type’. Cluster 3 has high activity, effortful control, positive affect and low behavioral inhibition, negative affect, called ‘Active control type’. and Cluster 4 has all temperament subtypes were average, called ‘Average type’. The borderline personality trait is the highest in ‘Control difficulty type’, and the lowest in ‘Active control type’. Based on the analysis results, Implications were discussed.
