This research studied and analyzed the proposal and importance of ethical education in the formative arts education of college. With the recent rise of the importance of civic education, the necessity of ethical education based on community consciousness emerged in arts education. The pursuit of aesthetic values based on esthetics and creativity was an important educational goal in modern era s formative arts education, with these values, today s trend is shifting to education for people and the earth based on the global situation. In particular, it emphasizes sustainable education that pursues environmental protection and public interest in plastic arts education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the present situation of ethical education as a way to implement sustainable education through formative arts education. In detail, the contents of this research were composed of the historical consideration of the aesthetic and moral values of art, the necessity of ethical education, the ethical education situation in formative arts education, and the ethical education proposal. The ethical education curriculum focuses on the curriculums related to plastic arts education in universities. The ethical education proposals are studied and analyzed with reference to literature of domestic and foreign experts. This study has significance in terms of suggesting the importance of cultivating global citizen consciousness as well as realizing sustainable education for all through formative arts education in the future.
