연구목적: 본 연구는 비자살적 자해를 하는 대학생을 대상으로 내면화된 수치심이 분노억제를 매개하여 비자살적 자해에 영향을 미치는지 확인하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 453명의 대학생에게 자해기능평가지, 내면화된 수치심 척도, 한국판 상태-특성 분노표현 척도를 사용하여 설문을 하였으며, 자해기능평가지에서 최소 1회 이상 자해를 경험했다고 응답한 250명의 자료 중에서 자살의도가 있었다고 응답한 19명과 불성실하게 응답한 7명을 제외한 총 224부의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 연구결과: 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내면화된 수치심과 분노억제, 비자살적 자해는 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 내면화된 수치심과 비자살적 자해의 관계에서 분노억제가 부분매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 비자살적 자해에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 중심으로 탐색할 필요가 있음을 보여주며, 비자살적 자해의 예방 및 치료를 위해서는 자해라는 행위 자체보다는 심리적 기제에 주목할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
Objective: The aim of present study was to examine the impacts of internalized shame on non-suicidal self-injury as mediated by anger suppression among college students who commit non-suicidal self-injury. Methods: The Functional Assessment of Self-Mutilation (FASM), Internalized Shame Scale (ISS), and State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory–Korean Version (STAXI-K) were conducted on 453 college students. A total of 224 questionnaires were included in the final analysis, after excluding those in which participants indicated suicidal intentions or responded insincerely. Results: The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, there was a significant positive correlation between internalized shame and non-suicidal self-injury. Secondly, anger suppression appeared to have a partial mediating effect on the correlation between internalized shame and non-suicidal self-injury. Conclusions: These findings suggest that it is necessary to pay attention to the psychological mechanisms behind non-suicidal self-injury rather than the students behavioral aspects.
