In this study, we considered the aspects of death education of the genre materials of death motif narrative that appeared in high school literature textbooks based on the 2015 Korean language curriculum. Among the 10 literary textbooks, there are narrative, folk tale, classic novels, modern novels, essays, and movies. Among them, modern novels have the largest number of 21 works in 10 kinds of literature textbooks. It has been confirmed that these works tend to be used as a means to reach the standard of achievement in literature education rather than to understand the unique features of Death Motif. It contained works dealing with various death motifs, but was steeped in teaching specific educational content. In addition, a few specific works were being used as material to implement various learning objectives. As a result of analyzing the contents of learning activities, most of these works consisted of educational content focused on promoting social and cultural understanding of death. As a process of life, there was a lack of awareness of death or activities to promote ethical understanding of death. In particular, it was difficult to find any activities to promote a philosophical and religious understanding of death. In the future, it is necessary to set a clear purpose of death education in terms of literature curriculum and prepare standards and systematic contents for selecting materi---als.
